Band
3rd Shot Drop is Myrtle Beach’s best party band! Playing a fantastic mix of your favorite Motown, beach and pop songs, their music will take you back in time while making today a moment to remember.
Avid pickleball players will recognize the band’s name as a term from the popular sport, while others just connect it to a great night out on the town. The band’s unique name is associated with the game and pays homage to how many of its members have met over the years – on a pickleball court. In fact, the band’s ties to the game led to one of their very first gigs following their formation in 2018: a fundraiser for the North Myrtle Beach Pickleball Association. The band has been through a lot since then, including the addition of many new members, the expansion of their core repertoire and of course, the COVID-19 pandemic which brought their performance schedule to a temporary standstill. Now though, 3rd Shot Drop is back and better than ever, featuring some of the Grand Strand’s greatest musicians and vocalists. Catch them performing at some of South Carolina’s hottest bars, restaurants and private venues, and get ready to dance 'til you drop!

James (Jimmy) Beachum: Bass
Jimmy grew up near the Jersey Shore and believes he was the only “Southern Boy” in his entire high school. He started out playing bass in the early 1970's, but not long after, switched to guitar. He has now been a guitarist for over 40 years, and currently plays both the six and twelve-string for his church, while lending his original talent as a bassist to 3rd Shot Drop.
Hakeem Green: Lead Vocals
Hailing from Montego Bay and raised in family full of musicians, Hakeem began singing at the young age of ten. Now a seasoned singer and burgeoning songwriter, he dreams of performing his own songs in stadiums bursting with fans. From modern pop and seventies soul to Motown and even Big Band, Hakeem can cover almost anything with his wide vocal range.
Mike Knight: Horns, Keys, Strings
Mike Knight grew up in York, Pennsylvania and started playing the clarinet in fourth grade. During his senior year at Ithaca College, where he received his degree in music, he won a position with the U.S. Army Band. Michael Munkascy: Guitar, Vocals
Michael began his musical career by performing in professional theater in Ohio. He then moved on to touring as a solo acoustic rock artist and writing songs for submission to Billboard. Michael and his wife later co-founded the Westerville Center for the Arts in Columbus where they taught dramatics and vocals while writing, directing and producing shows.
Dave Newman: Drums
Dave has been playing drums since the age of thirteen and remains grateful to his father for buying him his first kit. Practicing Beatles hits and Rolling Stones covers with neighborhood kids and middle school friends, he honed his craft while developing an interest in Southern Rock, blues and even Latin rhythm styles.. To date, Dave still enjoys exploring new beats to bring to his fans.
Janet Resch: Vocals
Janet is a native of New Jersey who was inspired by her mother’s singing from a very young age. That initial interest led her to perform in school musicals and plays, and after graduation, to a singing career with the touring band, Snow. She later performed in an Elvis Presley tribute show before joining her next group, Breakthrough in Albany, New York, and touring the East Coast.
Charlie Ward: Lead Guitar
Charlie is a founding member of the band, but came late to his love of music. A struggling college student, he had never played a note before he held his roommate’s guitar. Suddenly obsessed, he began teaching himself on a Les Paul knock-off gifted by his grandmother. Charlie is now happy to be living out his musical dreams with a band he lovingly calls his family.
